This was a big outreach week, setting the tone of what I think our next several months will look like. After seeing our demo video of my hand at 98% vacuum (constant movement in my wrist gasket meant we couldn’t get that last ~1.7%), the head of advanced spacesuit design at NASA gave us a shortlist of objectives that would prove to him that that the technique can scale to a full spacesuit. In order to meet those objectives, we are going to need to build a much better vacuum chamber, much better biological systems monitoring for depress tests, and overhaul how the vacuum-gasket-skin-atmosphere interface works. For our own piece of mind, we’ll also want to test making custom gloves for several different people. We did a lot of planning around who we want to work with for this stage in between pre-seed and seed (pre-seed II?), how this next vacuum chamber will need to work, and everything we’ll need to get there.
